a bit about me: Artist Statement

An artist is someone that gives life variety and enhances our world by seeing beauty in the mundane and contributing to society in a way that is worthwhile. I am a 2D studio major at Eastern Illinois University. To learn is what motivates me. I am a lover of learning and now I am indulging in my college experience. I am surrounded by experts of the arts that inspire me every day. I am concentrating on honing my craft and having discipline in the arts. I enjoy painting, drawing, ceramics, and sculpting. Working with the different materials keeps me inspired and motivated. Learning how to create something with precision and craftsmanship is my first obstacle in art. I am exploring ideas and techniques and I am trying to find my voice as an artist through simply living my life. I am interested in experiencing new things, cultures, people, and worldviews. Subject matter that intrigues me includes different aspects of the human experience. I am interested in capturing the beauty in life.
